Agents without the hype
Tools, loops, and when a human still has to click.
An agent is a model allowed to use tools: open a page, run a command, send a draft. The loop is: think → act → read the result → think again. That is powerful and easy to over-trust.
CashPlanet talks about “human-governed AI” for a reason. A loop that can spend money, change a record, or message a customer is an operations risk, not a demo.
A safe first agent
- It can read a folder of your notes and propose a summary.
- It cannot send the summary until you press a button.
- It logs what it opened.
If a product cannot show you the log, treat it as a toy.
When not to use one
- Anything with a one-way payment.
- Government or school portals that punish a wrong click.
- Work you do not understand well enough to notice a wrong tool call.
