Pick a problem you can finish

Local, narrow, and already happening without software.

Good first problems are already being solved with a notebook, a group chat, or a paper list.

Promising shapes

  • A price list a stall already writes on cardboard.
  • A rota for who opens the shop on Sunday.
  • A map of which kiosk has cooking gas today — even if you only list five streets.
  • Office hours for a clinic, typed once, shared often.

Reject these for now

  • Anything that needs logins for more than you.
  • Payments.
  • “An app for all of Africa.”
  • A clone of a product you cannot operate offline for five minutes.

Write the sentence: For [person], when [moment], this page does [one action]. If you need a second sentence, cut the idea.
